Pump Does Not Run
1Why won’t my pump turn on?
One possible reason is that there is no electric power. Make sure the pump is plugged in and check the electrical supply to ensure it's working properly.
2What should I do if my pump is receiving power but still doesn’t run?
The pump impeller may be jammed. In this case, a professional pump overhaul or service and cleaning is recommended to resolve the issue.
Pump Does Not Draw Water
1Could the suction valve be the problem?
Yes, if the suction valve is not submerged, the pump won’t draw water. Make sure the suction valve is positioned below the water’s surface.
2What if the pump has no water?
The pump must be filled with water to function properly. Fill the pump with water in order to prime it.
3Could there be air in the suction pipe?
Yes, air in the suction pipe can prevent the pump from drawing. Bleed the air from the system and check for leaks that may be introducing air.
4Can a blocked suction intake strainer cause this issue?
Definitely. A clogged intake strainer restricts water flow. Clean the strainer thoroughly to restore proper function.
5What if the suction height or pipe length is too much?
: If the maximum suction height or pipe length has been exceeded, the pump may not draw water. Try adjusting the pump’s position closer to the water source or consider using a submersible pump.
Pump Does Not Switch Off
1Could an open outlet be causing the pump to stay on?
Yes. If an outlet (such as a tap, or toilet filling valve) is left/stuck open and water continues to run, the pump won’t switch off. Make sure all outlets are closed.
2What if there’s a leak in the system?
: A leaking pressure hose or outlet can prevent the pump from building enough pressure to shut off. Inspect for leaks and repair any damaged hoses or fittings.
Pump not using rainwater?
1I have rainwater in the underground tank but the system is using mains water only. Is this ok or is there a problem?
This is fine if the unit has been set to use mains water if the rainwater in the tank drops to a certain level.
2Could a level sensor error cause the system to use mains water?
Yes. If you have a level sensor error the system will default to mains water mode to prevent the pump from running dry. The error is usually due to a fault with the level sensor junction box which would need replacing.
3Could the three way valve get stuck in mainswater position?
Yes. During long periods of using mains wate, the 3 way valve can get stuck. Generally, these can be freed off but sometimes they do seize and so will need replacing.
Pump Discharge Rate Is Insufficient/ Lower than expected
1Could the suction height be too high?
Yes. Excessive suction height reduces the pump’s efficiency. Check the suction height and, if needed, reposition the pump closer to the water source or consider using a submersible pump.
2Is a blocked suction intake affecting the discharge rate?
Definitely. A clogged suction intake restricts water flow. Clean the suction intake to restore normal operation.
3Can dirt or debris in the system cause low discharge?
Yes. Dirt in the system equipment can reduce flow. Clean all components and have the tank cleaned and pump serviced or overhauled by a professional if necessary.
4What if the pump head height is too high?
A high pump head height can exceed the pump’s capacity. Check the head height, and if it’s too great, adjust the pump position or use a more powerful pump.
